I just uploaded version 3! This time there are 3 items you can pick up using the RMB and throw in the fire clicking on the LMB!

A Shadow actually lurks in the basement now! Well, it's more standing idle than lurking, but it's there alright. I thought of a simple design, a tall guy made in MakeHuman, charcoal black texture for skin, light-emitting burning coal for the eyes and surrounded with a cloud of pitch-black ashes. This guy looks like he came out of the fire place doesn't he?

As you'll see the next step will be to have the monster navigate the space and come after you. That could take me a while as I don't have much experience with Unreal's behaviour tree system, although the AI I'm going for is pretty simple. 

So the idea is that you'll get a list of items to find in the house and burn in the fireplace to ban the smoke monster that's pursuing you. You'll have some way to fight back temporarily and the light will be an important factor.
